How To Detect Spyware on a Phone (in no particular order)
- Battery Drain-Is your phone battery running down faster than normal? Is it warm to touch when not being used?
- Increased Data Usage-Have you noticed an increase in your normal data usage? Is there also an increase in SMS messages?
- Receiving Unusual Texts-Are you receiving strange text messages containing random numbers, symbols or characters?
- Phone Shuts Down-Does your phone regularly power down or restart by itself, even when the battery is charged?
- Odd Phone Behavior-Is your device just pain acting up? Locking up? Could it be simply too many apps, but after deleting junk apps does it continue?
- Screen Flickering-Does the screen light up and come on out of sleep by itself? Does it flash on then off or is there a change in brightness?
- Background Noise-While bad connections are common with cell phones, watch for consistent lack of quality or “tunnel voice”. Listen for clicking, buzzing, humming or consistent static like sounds.
- Slow Internet-Decrease in internet access speeds.
- Powering Off-Do you have problems manually shutting down your phone? Does the screen remain lit for a time after shutting down?
- Detailed Knowledge-Do others seem to know more about private things in your life or your activities?
Look for dramatic jumps in your data usage on billing records. The jump will be almost double, for every action you take or “thing” you press on phone it sends a report of that activity to the monitor company. This info is sent out as data, there will be no record of a forwarded call or text message on your phone or in pone records.
Do you see a new APP or program that you never downloaded? Sometimes hiding in plain sight is very effective.
