Social media is a powerful tool to keep people informed, whether personal or public posting.  It gives insight into life style, behaviors and even crimes.  There are plenty of examples of people commiting crimes and posting them on social media.  There are just as many posts that involve victims of crime and law enforcement using it effectively to share photos or video of potential “persons or interest’ related to an event they are investigating.
