What does a private investigator do?

It is not a Magnum PI life style, other than we help people with answers.  The less sexy title is simply an information broker.  By using data gathered by different investigative techniques we analysis and provide answers and leverage or an upper hand by knowing answers to questions before they are asked..

Typically the best way to do this is surveillance.  A good private investigator  gets answers by observation, the best private investigators get video or photographic evidence.  But honestly that cannot always be obtained, iften it is better to just know than risk being caught.  The answer to the question is what is more important. It involves long hours sitting in the back of a vehicle, covertly observing all that is happening around the subject of our investigation and whom they interact with.  Even the minimal change in the picture can answer one question that leads to antoher and another till we have pulled loose all the treads in the woven lie.

With some cases like as finding a lost relative or old school mate, people tend to try to over use Google and other online paid services.  While it is easy, it is not always correct.  A person digital footprint takes time to make its way to the internet, once it’s there there are a ton of services that charge for this old data.  Short of being friends on social media, things you find online are usually dated, but mislabeled as current information and are not reliable.

There are professional private investigators for a reason.  Another thing to be cautious of is  the fine print.  Online services make that fine print small, but often it says we cannot “reliable verify” the information provided and it cannot be used for anything but personal use or “entertainment”.  So what are you paying for if it cannot be used in court?
