What you grandmother said is true, you can’t get something for nothing.. Unless your a criminal.

Chat room & forums are ripe with people offering gift cards at dramatically less than face value.  Let’s Examine why…

  1. It is a store than they don’t shop at.
  2. Rebate card from some purchase they made and (refer back to #1).
  3. They work at the store and stole them.
  4. They stole them from someone else.
  5. They used a stolen credit card to load the gift card.

Chances are its fraud in some manner.

Here are some other things to remember. 

  • PayPal does NOT PROTECT you from fraud if you buy gift cards or gift certificates through their system. 
  • NEVER money gram or wire a payment for a purchase of ANY KIND.
  • Shuffling credits between cards does not launder the credit.  Starbucks keeps track of every dollar credit on their cards and knows the name of everyone who gives you credit and everyone you give money to. They can and will cancel all your credits.  (Call them and ask if you didn’t know this)
